Fatima Sana Shaikh, who made a smashing debut with Dangal, recently opened up on sexual harassment and said that while she is still coping up with it, she doesn’t want to feel judged for not sharing her story. She also added that sexual assault has been normalised in our society to an extent that women accept it normally in their day to day life. She was quoted saying in Mumbai Mirror, “I don’t want to expose that side of my life… I’m dealing with it, speaking to people I’m close to. Just like I won’t judge those who want to share their horror stories, I expect not to be judged for not sharing mine.”
She also opened up on the Me Too movement which had taken the industry by storm. She applauded the movement for having giving people a platform to share their horrific stories and call out the predators who have been enjoying the limelight despite their misdeeds. “Now sexual predators are scared of being shamed in public and shunned by the industry. For so many years we had normalised assault to such an extent that women had come to accept abuse as something that was normal,” she added.
