Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken legal action against producer-director Ram Gopal Varma. In case of non-payment of remuneration to artists, technicians and workers, not a single member of the federation’s 32 unions will work with Ramgopal in the future. According to reports, Ram Gopal Varma has not given Rs 1.5 crore to artists, technicians and workers. While the federation has been asking them to make payments from 2018.
an exclusive interview with Divya Bhaskar, BN Tiwari, president of the Mumbai Federation , said that people have been complaining against Ram Gopal Varma since 2018. Earlier he left Mumbai, even here he did not pay the office people. He then went to Hyderabad and from there to Goa. The Hyderabad Association also owes money, but has no idea how much is owed. But the Mumbai Federation has Rs 1.5 crore left. For that we had to go to Goa twice. He kept saying that you come, we would talk together but after going there he would stop receiving our phone calls.
BN Tiwari further said that we are still doing bad work by not giving money to the poor workers . Said come here, let’s talk. Going there, he hung up the phone saying hello, hello. Then the phone just switched off. He was not even interviewed. This man has annoyed us a lot. Being a famous director-producer, he is doing a bad job by not giving money to artists, technicians and poor workers in this way. There will be at least 50 people with money left over. We sent them a non-cooperation notice in 2018. His information has also been given to the body etc. but Ram Gopal kept giving time, kept requesting, but did nothing.
BN Tiwari, president of the federation, Ashok Dubey, general secretary, and Gangeshwar Lal Srivastava, treasurer (Sanju Bhai), have decided not to work with Ram Gopal in the future . FWICE wrote a letter to Ram Gopal Varma on September 17, 2020 informing him of the complete list of artists, technicians and poor workers and the amount of payment.
FWICE wrote a letter to Ram Gopal Varma many times about this, but he refused to take the letter. We also wrote a letter dated September 10, 2020 to the Chief Minister of Goa. But now in compulsion it has been decided not to work with them in the future. This has been notified to IMPPA and GUILD and all the major unions.
