Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 has hit it out of the park on its opening day. Considering the humongous buzz on the ground level, the film was always expected to score big on the opening day, but it performed way beyond expectations and raked in over 45 crores net yesterday, as per estimates. After such an extraordinary start, the film was always expected to witness a dip today, considering it’s a regular working day. Still, the advance booking report suggests a strong collection on day 2.
Released on Independence Day, the horror comedy clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa. However, this clash isn’t clearly a clash as the Stree sequel is doing wonders at ticket windows one-sidedly and performing like no other film is running in theatres. The film has opened to fantastic response in multiplexes and single screens.
Stree 2 closed its opening day by selling tickets worth 23.36 crores gross (excluding blocked seats) through advance booking at the Indian box office. Coming from such a start, the film has witnessed a sharp decline in pre-sales as it has sold tickets worth 8 crores gross (excluding blocked seats) for day 2. If calculated, it’s a drop of 65.75% as compared to the opening day.

Still, it’s a good number for working day, and already, over 2.35 lakh tickets were sold for today before the first show started. As Stree 2 is enjoying positive word-of-mouth, and there’s solid buzz all over social media, strong walk-ins are expected to be seen throughout the day. In the present situation, with advance booking worth 8 crores gross in the kitty, the film will comfortably stay above 22-23 crores.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the Stree sequel also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee in key roles.
